Zebra

Zebra are a common sight in Kenya, and are most commonly found in the Masai Mara, Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks. Zebras are a key part of the delicate ecosystem and help to keep the grasslands and savannahs in balance. Zebras are herbivores and are often seen grazing in herds alongside other animals such as Antelope, Wildebeest and Gazelles. Kenya is home to several species of zebra; we saw both, the rarer Grévy’s Zebra and the more common Plains Zebra, as well as Hybrid Zebra, a cross between the two.

A common sight, Zebras standing face to bottom. This way when they swish their tails they can swat the flies away from their bottoms and their friend’s face. Genius!

Huge gathering of Zebras at the watering trough. Frustration was evident in their desire to get to the water.
